Social Studies is taught by Ms. McMillan, a good teacher. She gives us many projects that help us experience history through field trips, activities, and simulations. The project I chose to share with you for history was the Ancient Americas project. This project was about the native people living in Central and South America: the Mayans, the Aztecs, and the Incas. These natives were invaded by the Spanish in the 1500s. For the project, we had to imagine a trip to a modern day country in Central or South America in which the Spanish hadn't invaded. I decided to make my visit in Mexico, where the Aztecs lived. I wrote my story in a website with pictures. Since I've been learning how to code with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (three programming languages that are used to code websites), I decided to try to make my whole website by myself with these three coding languages. I managed to do it, and I am really proud because this was the first time I made a complete website with HTML. You can see my website here. (Since the domain website only lets me have the domain for a limited time, that website might not work, depending on when you look at it.)

This website definitely shows my best work. I spent a LOT of time on it. I researched the Aztecs a lot and then brainstormed extensively about what would change and what would stay the same. Then, coding the website with HTML took over a week of hard work every day because I had to troubleshoot, write the code, and format everything so it fit. Also, since I coded it myself I really improved my programming skills and learnt a lot of cool things. Overall, I am really proud of this website!
