In Science, we had many, many cool assignments. Science is taught by Ms. Garcia. She is a really, really good teacher. The assignment I chose to share on my digital portfolio is the Safest Place in America Project. In this project, we had to decide on which city in the United States is safest from the following natural disasters: wildfires, severe winterstorms, thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, and earthquakes. We had to research where in the United States those natural disasters happen. Next, we tried to figure out which city in the United States was the most immune to natural disasters by completing all of our maps. Finally, we made a video advertisement to convince people to move to that place. Click here to learn more about the assignment. Click here to see our video. We also had to design a counterargument for the New York Times, who have an article about how Corvalis, Oregon is the Safest Place in America from natural disasters.

I think that this assignment shows my capability to work in teams. During this project, I had pretty good teamwork and we could get a lot done.  Also, I think that the assignment shows my ability to make videos to educate people about things through advertisements because we managed to get the audience hooked in with the special effects at the beginning. It also shows my ability to read other people's opinions and prepare a counter argument while  designing a counter argument against the New York Times. I had a lot of fun while doing this project, especially filming the video and learned a lot!

SCIENCE!
