Science

Science is my favorite subject.  It is taught by Mrs. Garcia and Ms. Johnson. I have many favorite projects in this subject. The project I chose to show you here is my project about matter. It is called "Matter Matters." I worked with one partner on this project. In the project, we were working for a detective agency and the two twin owners named Classify and Identify Matter recieved some mystery packages. They didn't know if they were safe to open , so they hired us to figure out what elements were inside using some clues.

First, we needed to research about matter and write our background research. Then, we tried to identify the mystery elements. At the end, we wrote an eight-paragraph letter (one for each package) to the detective agency owners about what was inside of each package. Go to this link to see the more detailed instructions to the project. To see the clues for the different packages, it will ask you for a password. The password is "locked."  To see my background research and letter, go to this google docs link.

I chose to include this project in my e-portfolio because while doing this project, I learned a lot about matter and the periodic table of elements. This is because we had to know how to look for an element's atomic number on the periodic table and other things to identify the mystery matter. While doing it, I accomplished many things. I learned all about the periodic table, mixtures, atoms, and more! I also represented my best work and student skills because I got better at identifying different elements and most importantly, I learned how to productively use the Ace Strategy for writing. (The ace strategy stands for Answer, Cite, and Extend.  It is used to answer a scientific question)
