Science is by far my favorite class, mostly because Ms. Garcia teaches it. Ms. Garcia is an amazing teacher because, like many of the teachers at AdVENTURE, she actually wants to teach us useful things we can use in our life. She gives us so many projects to teach us things, I can't fit them all here. In this page I will share with you one of my favorite projects ever: The Human Body 2.0 project.

In this project, we used our knowledge of human body systems to redesign a human body system so that it works better. To learn more about the project, click here. My team decided to do the respiratory and circulatory system, the systems that are responsible for pumping oxygen throughout the body. We decided to change this system so that people can breathe underwater or in places with little or no oxygen for much longer periods of time. We named this project DolphinBreath, because we would be able to breathe for longer periods of time, like dolphins. We also wrote a long essay about the changes we can make. I invite you to read this essay here.

I think that this piece of work represents my best work in science because I spent a lot of time researching other species and coming up with a lot of creative solutions to many real-life problems. This represents a piece of work that really taught me a lot about human body systems and how they work together, because we had to change other body systems as well in order to make this work. In the essay you will see a lot of this. For example, we had to change the nervous system so the body knew when to start conserving oxygen.

Because of this, I think this is definitely my best work this year. It made me problem solve and make creative solutions. It also taught me all about the human body. I hope you enjoyed the essay and presentation!
